Network: Open Dutch Fiber (ODF)The West district (including Oud-West, De Baarsjes, Bos en Lommer, and Westerpark) is one of the most densely populated parts of Amsterdam. The demand for stable, fast, and reliable internet is significant here. The rollout of fiber optics in this district has accelerated in recent years.
A future-proof fiber optic network is now present in large parts of West. The two main players that have laid cables in the ground here are KPN Network and Open Dutch Fiber (ODF).
While KPN traditionally managed the copper lines and is now replacing them with fiber on a large scale, ODF is making steady progress in neighborhoods like Bos en Lommer. This benefits consumers, as competition on the network often leads to lower promotional rates from providers.
Characteristic of Oud-West and De Baarsjes are the many porch flats and divided buildings. If the street is open and the main cable is being pulled, the Homeowners' Association (HOA) must give official approval for installation in communal areas or on the facade. Without this approval, the building may be "prepared" (homes passed), but you will not be able to connect a modem in your third-floor apartment. Ensure this is discussed in the HOA meeting!
Because the network is already in place, providers compete for your business. Odido (often via the ODF network) frequently offers welcome discounts in West (for example, the first 10 months at a reduced rate). KPN and Budget Thuis (via KPN), on the other hand, offer the stability of their own infrastructure.
Do you live in a divided building with downstairs neighbors? In Oud-West, connections are often located in shared meter cupboards or riser pipes. Is the downstairs neighbor not cooperating with the installation? Read here what your rights are and download our template letters.
Because the fiber optic network differs per neighborhood, you will find the current prices of the providers that are actually active in your specific postal code area here.

Network coverage source: The dominant networks listed (KPN, ODF, GlasDraad) are based on the current coverage maps of the fiber operators (reference date 2026). Coverage can vary locally per street.
Important Note for Expats: Most Dutch internet providers do not offer their checkout process in English. We highly recommend using the built-in translation feature in your web browser (e.g. right-click > 'Translate to English' in Chrome or Edge) to complete your order.
The Total 1st year price is calculated over a 12-month period (including any one-off installation costs and welcome discounts). This provides the most transparent overview of your actual costs per provider, separate from temporary "promotional prices".
