Network: KPN DominantFrom the NDSM wharf to Tuindorp and Nieuwendam: Amsterdam-Noord has developed in recent years. With the arrival of the North/South line, the district is connected to the rest of the city, and this also applies to the internet infrastructure.
Large parts of Noord, including the Vogelbuurt and Tuindorp Buiksloot, are equipped with the KPN Network. This means you can expect stability and symmetrical speeds up to 4 Gbps here. In newer development areas, such as around the NDSM wharf, Open Dutch Fiber (ODF) is also active locally, giving residents a choice between multiple fiber networks.
In the older neighborhoods of Noord, installation can be challenging due to narrow streets and dike houses. Nevertheless, residents in neighborhoods like the Van der Pekbuurt indicate that network operators (such as KPN) often inventory requirements at an early stage. Respondents indicated they could proactively decide whether they wanted a fiber termination unit (FTU) indoors for future use, even before the street was physically opened.
Do you live in the villages outside the ring road (such as Zunderdorp, Ransdorp, or Durgerdam)? Then you fall under Landelijk Noord. The unique GlasDraad network is located there, which involves different rules and fixed fees than in the rest of Amsterdam-Noord.
